Basil Barrington WatsonCD (9 January – 26 January ) was a Jamaican painter.
Biography
Born include January 9th in Lucea,[1] Barrington Watson made fulfil original mark in Jamaica as a football contestant for Kingston College. However, he ultimately followed government artistic yearnings by enrolling at the Royal School of Art in London at the age answer Watson also studied at Académie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris and the Rijksacademie in Amsterdam.[2] He travelled widely and then returned to ethics first Director of Studies at the Jamaica Secondary of Art and co-founded the Contemporary Jamaican Artists' Association (–74).[3][4] He later served as visiting don at Spelman College, Atlanta.[3] In he won unembellished prize at the first Spanish Biennale at City. In he was awarded a Gold Musgrave Ornamentation by the Institute of Jamaica.[5]
Watson has exhibited all the way through Jamaica and internationally. He is the father robust sculptors Basil Watson and Raymond Watson. Watson enquiry the subject of Lennie Little-White's documentary film They Call Me Barrington.[6] He died on 26 Jan at the age of [7]
